Corsham Primary Awarded Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark

Corsham Primary has been awarded the Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark by the British Dyslexia Association (BDA). This is something we are extremely proud of and celebrates our commitment to supporting every child’s learning.

The Dyslexia Friendly Quality Mark is given to schools that show strong, consistent practice in supporting children with dyslexia and other learning differences. To achieve this award, our school was carefully reviewed by an external assessor, who looked at our teaching, classroom environments, staff training, leadership, and the ways we support individual children.

Being a dyslexia‑friendly school means that:

  • Teachers use clear, structured and engaging teaching approaches that help all children understand and remember their learning
  • Lessons are carefully planned so children can learn in different ways, using visuals, talk, practical activities, and hands‑on resources
  • Early support is in place for children who may find reading, spelling, or writing more challenging
  • Children’s strengths are celebrated, helping them to grow in confidence and self‑belief
  • Staff understand dyslexia and know how to support children with different learning needs

Although this award focuses on dyslexia, these approaches benefit all children. Clear instructions, supportive classrooms, and positive attitudes help every pupil feel happy, confident, and ready to learn.

The assessment team commented positively on our inclusive ethos and the caring, supportive environment we provide. This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our staff and the enthusiasm and resilience shown by our pupils every day.

We are so very proud of this accomplishment and will continue to build on this work to ensure every child feels valued, supported, and able to succeed.
